Describe your bike accurately to attract more renters:
Type of bike: mountain bike, road bike, gravel, cargo bike, e-bike, folding bike, etc. Condition and accessories: Mention anything that can make your listing stand out (helmet, panniers, lock…). Availability and pick-up location: Indicate when and where your bike can be rented. Rental price: Set an attractive price based on the market and the condition of your bike.
Receive rental requests
You're free to accept or decline a booking depending on your availability. A built-in chat lets you talk with renters before the booking, securely.
Hand over your bike in person
When handing over the bike, carry out a condition report, sign the rental agreement with the renter and take photos for extra security.
Earn money

Most frequently asked questions and their answers
What is BikUp's commission?
BikUp's commission is 5% of the amount you set for the rental. BikUp's commission covers the platform's running costs (hosting, accounting, moderation costs, …).
For example, if you rent out your bike at €20 per day, you'll receive €19 per day including VAT.
What happens in case of damage?
If your bike is damaged, the rental agreement you drew up protects you. Rely on it and find common ground with the renter. In case of damage and in accordance with the rental agreement, you can then withhold an amount from the deposit.
Do I need a rental agreement?
For a worry-free rental, we recommend that you:
- sign a rental agreement (we offer an agreement and its rental agreement clauses)
- ask for a copy of an ID document
- ask for a deposit (often an uncashed cheque)
Do I need to register my bike before renting it out?
The law has required identification marking for all new bikes, and used bikes bought from a professional, since 2021. This marking (a unique number engraved on the frame) must be registered in a national database such as Bicycode.org. It is carried out by an approved operator on presentation of the invoice and an ID document. In case of theft, this number makes it much easier to recover your bike.
Can I rent out anything other than bikes on BikUp?
Yes! BikUp also lets you rent out bike accessories: panniers, bike travel cases, specialist tools, or trailers (for children, for travel, or for your pets). A great way to make gear that's gathering dust pay for itself and to round out your offer for renters.
How long do I have to respond to a rental request?
We recommend replying within 48 hours of receiving a request. A quick reply, whether positive or negative, improves your visibility on the platform and increases your chances of getting new bookings.

By making your bike available to other cyclists, you help increase how much it's used and reduce the need to manufacture new bikes (especially e-bikes, whose production uses a lot of raw materials and generates CO2). Every rental is a small, concrete step towards more sustainable mobility.
